Survey Analysis (Gartner 2013): Customers Rate Their BI Platform Functionality

This Gartner research details the perceptions of business intelligence professionals about 40 business intelligence platforms and their satisfaction with, and usage of, 15 major BI functions, based on a survey conducted for our most recent Magic Quadrant for business intelligence and analytics platforms.

Panorama Necto received the highest score of all 40 BI products based on 15 major BI capabilities in the latest Gartner report!. Necto was rated #1 in 7 out of the 15 major BI capabilities, including Ease of Use, Interactive Visualization, Dash boarding, Collaboration, Search-based BI, OLAP Rating, Prescriptive Modeling & BI Infrastructure.  

Key Findings

The survey found that business intelligence (BI) platforms serve information delivery and

analysis needs well, with reporting, ad hoc analysis, dashboards and interactive visualization

providing the most used and most satisfactory capabilities.

Mobile BI and search-based data discovery showed the greatest increase in use although

customers are among the least satisfied with these capabilities.

Predictive analytics and data mining showed the greatest drop in 2013. Lack of skills may be

an inhibitor to adoption and satisfaction.

Integration capabilities of BI platforms, including BI infrastructure and BI development tools,

are widely deployed and their use grew year over year, while use of metadata management

declined, perhaps driven by increased use of data discovery tools.
